20 Supporting Members

Supporting Members shall be educational, research, industrial, or governmental organizations and individuals, who are actively engaged in carrying out or promoting research in wood science or the enhanced utilization of wood on the basis of scientific or technological principles and practices. Approval for membership and the annual contribution from Supporting Members is established by the Academy Board based on a two-thirds majority vote (currently at $US200 per year). Supporting Members have the privilege of designating an Affiliate, who does not have to be a Fellow, to represent the organization in the Academy. Supporting Members receive the same publications as Fellows, including the Bulletins (twice a year) and the yearly Membership Brochure.

The importance of Supporting Members to the Academy is two-fold:

The Academy derives direct contact with organizations and individuals actively engaged in the utilization of wood and wood products
The Academy receives financial support for its activities from these members.
